Jon Klaasen - Burst of Beaden

I have never, ever ever ever seen design like this. Jon is apparently a young guy not far out of college, and I rate he is going to have an amazing career. I like how the type on the envious lemon is pointy at the edges, just to reinforce the lemon's emotion. Right now, he lives in Los Angeles, California. I think we can all learn from his patience.

Re-use can be stylish! Designed by Max McMurdo from Reestore

Annie', the iconic urbanite shopping trolley chair, is the epitome of a cool, stylish recycled piece of furniture. When old M&S supermarket trolleys get wonky wheels or dented frames, eco designer Max McMurdo from Reestore takes them and transforms them into Annies and thereby saves them from ending up in landfill.

One plus one equals three

1+1=3 A Meeting Between Two Creates Something New
Beckmans School of Design showcase

This year, the final-year students in Product Design atBeckmans College of Designhave created an alternative meeting place in Greenhouse at the Stockholm Furniture Fair.

The students have created a space to inspire informal gatherings of people, in the same way as you would meet spontaneously about town - sitting at the edge of a monument, on a front porch or a flight of stairs. The furniture in the showcase are based on indivdual briefs to create a specific type of furniture. In contrast to what is usually the case in Greenhouse, where many prototypes are for view only, the students have encouraged the visitors to interact with the furniture and the space. As a a bonus this year, the third-year students have collaborated with the second-year Advertising and Graphic Design students in creating a catalogue and a film.

The Finnish company Character is on a mission to salvage dismantled logos and signs. Character takes the dismantled signs, which have been part of the cityscape for years, even decades, and gives them a new life. Photos by Johan Warden.

Matteo Nazzari

Oh wow!I love this photographer - don't ask me how I found him. He has this shoot on hotel rooms which have this dramatic, almost comic aesthetic which is amazing - like there is a story behind them.
